Associate Member grade is awarded to: - Students who are undertaking a degree in physics, or a cognate subject, or a qualifying scientific apprenticeship. - Professionals who are working with a connection to physics who have no formal degree in physics or cognate subject. Associate Member grade is the first of three grades of membership which the Institute of Physics can award in recognition of an individuals achievements in, and contributions to, Physics. Cognate subjects include: Chemistry, Mathematics, Engineering (all subject similar related), Medical Physics, Astronomy and Materials. Other degrees may be considered - please liaise with the Membership team for guidance.
