The Attendee has completed a three-day course in CDA and FHIR, provided by HL7-Denmark and with René Spronk from Ringholm as instructor.

CDA - Summary of course content

The course has focused on CDA (Clinical Document Architecture) as the basis for the implementation of e-documents. This training has provided the Attendee with an understanding of CDA as well as some of its implementation aspects and best practices. The focus has been on the core (international) CDA specification as well as on the Danish specific implementation guides and the Danish context.

The Attendee has been instructed in:

• Understanding the core components of the HL7 version 3 and CDA standards.
• Finding their way around the documentation.
• Explained why CDA is seen as an important foundation for healthcare interoperability.
• Applied CDA implementation best practices.
• Being aware of the Danish CDA implementation guides and some of the key requirements expressed therein.
• Having some hands-on experience working with Danish CDA documents and the validation thereof.

FHIR - Summary of course content

This training course offered a hands-on overview of the content of the HL7 FHIR standard and explains the key principles underlying the FHIR methodology the relationship between FHIR and related standards (e.g. HL7 CDA/HL7 v2/IHE XDS).

The Attendee has been instructed in: 

• Describing the characteristics and contents of the core FHIR information models.
• How to use the documentation, and how to reach out to other experts and implementers.
• How FHIR may be used in different interoperability paradigms (REST, messaging, e-documents, services).
• Building upon hands-on experience with FHIR gained during the training course.
• Helping their organization to determine if, when, where and how they might implement FHIR.
